You tube has taken to sending me lots of videos of old BSA's still earning their keep in Indonesia (or at least that's where I think it is) ,they are rather fun and there's clearly a lot of affection for these old bikes. Point is every single one so far (A10, M20 and B31) has got a neatly welded chain-case and alternator fitted. This must be common practice there.

That one is a factory alternator model (police model).
DIY'ers use a little Kabota alternator in place of the dynamo

I see he used a fag paper to time it and has the dreaded kickstart locking syndrome.
