A10 plunger gearbox
« on: 08.07. 2023 23:16 »
I have recently had to remove outer cover from gearbox to bush the clutch lever arm , when doing so I noticed that there are no gaskets fitted  between gearbox sections  , is this normal ?
SA hopefully getting a 53 A10 GF

Adtrac there should be a gasket for inner and outer cover.

I had a problem engaging gears with my Plunger gearbox after I fitted both gaskets. I ended up removing the outer, (I think) gasket to sort out the problem. Have a search for my posts.

G'day Adtrac.
Yes I found with my plunger I had to leave out the inner gasket. Thin smear of grey silastic did the trick.
Cheers

It's mad that the thickness of a gasket is enough to cause problems engaging gears 🤔

G'day GB.
Probably not a problem when new. With wear on the cam plate and the claw things become difficult. I've replaced the claw twice!
Cheers

Not unique to Beesa 'boxes GB, sadly. Folk find Burmans can be a very regular source of similar angst, and there be others I think. All down to wear, small amounts, multiple places is what I have found over the years.
I remember my old Dad saying to me one time about 50 years back "Don't even GO there, you stupid boy, that's GEARBOX, it'll be Trouble, Guaranteed, you'll see!"(Which, translated, actually meant: 'Leave that to me" - so things always ended happily and I learnt stuff.)
