G'day Fido.
As mentioned, the piston when mounted on the rod should flop back & forth like a cock in a sock with no rocking.
A rod of the exact size as the pin should slide through both little ends.

Yes, I found some kind of black deposit on the bronze of the little end bushes. I cleaned that off with a bit of wet & dry and all is well.
