G'Day from Down Under
« on: 16.01. 2023 21:10 »
I'm new to the BSA scene but always been a fan of the RGS ever since they came out after seeing them parked at the Busy Bee cafe in the 60's.
In my opinion the ultimate Cafe Racer. Velocette's were my choice of bike in those times. However time and circumstance have enabled me to purchase a pristine Rocket Gold Star replica from the UK, and now wish to bring up to handling today's traffic demands.
The frame originally was from a 1958 Gold Flash and the motor a 1960 Road Rocket, the bike was rebuilt into its current carnation by Cake Classics in the UK.

I've been riding bikes ever since Noah was a boy and still use one as my daily ride in Sydney.

Other bikes in the shed include Laverda's, Benelli's and a Triumph Thruxton R.

Welcome mate, there's a healthy contingent of Aussies on this Forum, and they're all barmy but relatively sound.  Sounds like you've got a decent stable of bikes, very envious.  Others will be welcoming you too, don't be afraid of saying a bit about yourself.  This is a fantastic place to talk about bikes, have arguments (I mean disagreements), have a bit of fun, and say anything you want about anything.  My Flash motor has just been rebuilt by Berger, just waiting to get to the garage to shove it all together.

Cheers

The bike was rebuilt by Cake St some time ago, I'm the 3rd custodian after the build.
Cake st do have a facebook site, might be possible to contact them there.

I guess it was Watford, used to live in Aylesbury, staight down the A41 to the Busy Bee, don't think by pass had been made then.

Good (re)call Kiwi, I remember Ace Cafe now too, I got the road right just the wrong cafe!! We did Busy Bee as well, if I remember that right we had a steepish uphill start from some traffic lights just before it (coming up from Romford) and getting away again with the 6 spring (heavy and sticky cable) clutch and a pillion passenger wasn't fun! Even worse for the mate with his Gold Star and close ratio gearbox, it had such a long 1st gear he used to slip the clutch all the time to get away on the flat even! cheers
