Since someone made this a separate topic I’ll add a few rally details. The rally route was here:

Beautiful forests and picturesque lakes (Rotoma, Rotoiti) and a visit to purportedly one of the world’s largest beer can collections - who knew the first beer can was made in new york in 1935?. The picture of the ‘lake’ above is on top of a dam so the other side drops away sharply. Note the burnout marks on the pavement – there’s a bit of that around those parts.
There was the usual range of BSA’s but no triples. There were a few dramas with the BSAOC club captain bringing a vespa (!) as none of his BSA’s were working (!!) and the vespa was on the trailer of shame before the morning tea stop (!!!). One pre-unit B series lost most bolts holding on the back mudguard (somewhat fixed at morning tea) and a unit B emitted lots of oil from everywhere and lost compression – actual diagnosis yet to be confirmed (by another forum member - who can ‘out’ himself for not riding his A10). On the way home one goldie lost the front brake anchor strap (half width 8” brake) and the plate spun and shattered, fortunately at low speed. That could have been scary. Note to everyone: if you have a brake with an anchor strap go out and check those bolts are tight right now.
Rocket racer and I rode down together on his B and my A (pictured above) with David, a club member on a modern (his proper bikes in accompanying trailer). We found a long way to get there and a longer way to get back though various south Waikato secondary roads and back up highway 22 – which is an excellent motorcycling road that put some big smiles on my face. Credit to RR for making that plunger B move so well on the hills and twisties. And mostly credit to the Phil and Barb and the crew in the Rotorua branch for all their work in putting together a great event.
