Oh to be young again and not feel the cold. Back in 1967 I was asked by a friend who blown a huntmaster engine to bits if I could swop an engine for him, trouble was said dead lump was in a church car park in nth wales ,I was in Liverpool,not only that it was this mates only transport but he needed it for the next week (I should explain the mate was part of the northwales cave rescue and had been on a callout when engine was blown )
Strangely the logistics ie engine , transport etc all fitted like a jigsaw and despite 4 ins of snow minivan was loaded with tools bolts and engine and we even found the church and bike. Suffice to say (as I've told the whole story before ) work was done rapidly and the dead bike restored and I also helped two other BSA owners get home from the dragon rally back to London,camping in those conditions??? 1 with engine plate bolts and a dynamo (had a spare ) the other ,so all in all a good day .a head gasket form dead lump that is apart from the pubs in wales being shut ,didn.t feel the cold at all
