Hi from a new member

Hello everybody. I have just joined the group as I am busy rebuilding/restoring my BSA A7 Plunger. First a brief history of my bike... Having spent a few years riding and rebuilding an array of different bikes, I decided that I wanted an old machine for pottering around country roads and lanes. After looking around somebody I knew had a mate who had an A7 which he no longer wanted after failing to convert it into a "chopper" A small exchange of cash secured the bike and I started to strip it for rebuilding.

This was 1985.

Well I stripped it down and got rid of all the bits which were no longer required and started to collect replacement parts to put it back to a more standard form.

Then I moved away from home for work and the bike was left and life took over.

Recently with the passing of my parents and clearing the house for sale I found what was left of my bike, so I decided to finish what I had started.

Hopefully now that I have time I will realize my dream of cruising the country lanes stopping for the obligatory cups of tea on my meanderings

Your going to luv her. What year is she? The cowpat headlight shroud is from 54 I think.
That's about the stage I was up to in 1981 with my 51 A7 plunger. I just finished rebuilding the motor (again).

Hi Musky, thanks for the message.

The bike is 1953, BA7 S frame and BA7 S engine numbers. I know the cowpat is slightly later but as all the original front end was missing I saw the cow pat for sale and had to have it. I just like the look of it.

I've made a start on the motor, so far so good, as they say. Big ends are standard size. I put a new set of shells on and there is no precipitable play.

Hi my first A10 back in 1965 was a '53 plunger outfit, lovely bike ,being 16 I battered the poor thing ,it just kept going after a very reliable first yr I seized the motor going down a hiil nr Oxford , completely my fault the bike was short of oil which I had in the sidecar but we'd lost 3 hours waiting to buy a new rear chain link and when done (i'd already found my own  my spare which had got out of my toolbox !!) and forgot to check the level. Welcome aboard from a Canadian living in the US.  I'm doing a similar thing but have the blessing/curse of having the '47 #280 with all the dumb ass ideas, (pogo stick center stand) and design flaws, (shitty engine lubrication).  My new-to-me crankshaft is winging it's way across the pond as we speak. 

You will find some amazing arcane knowledge and experience and an eagerness to share it in this lot on the Forum.  I can't do it without them.  I have a Triumph, Matchless, Norton past, but they don't seem to hold it against me.
