I haven't asked his permission to post this, but it's too good to keep hidden (I know Bryan -'rustyboxes' won't mind).
Old Ways.
Gimlet, mortice, sythe or froe
Most gone, lost, their skills bestowed
To hands once by tradition’s row
In holloway, quarry, ride or dale
Where wood or mead or stone or ale
Is the way that things would be
With our hands working, the mind set free
Not easy, adroit, quick or smart
Not flash, not slick, no modern part
Just reverence about the task
The pride in working things that last
Leather, canvas, brass or grain
Iron mostly in the frame
Old ways that once set life apart
Old ways revered at last
As art
