With the c/stand lifting arm now down it was the turn of the frame lifting arm/handle.

I have see people just using an 'L' shaped brk fitted between the rear seat fixing stud/bolt and the rear of the lifting arm but after a few lifts the brk starts to bend. So that is of no use and because the RGS uses different r/mudguard side rails which are of an all welded single rail instead of the two part assy of the Goldstar there is no rear anchor point for the lifting arm and I wanted to keep the original style RGS side rails.

Firstly I noticed that an additional inner rear mudguard brk, 42-6832, could be fitted on the inside under the seat mounting brk. When fitted it lined up perfectly with the rear fixing point of the frame lifting handle. However, that on its own would be too flimsy so a further fixing plate of some sort was required. I came up with 'boot' styled brk, see photos, that would locate on the the new inner rear mudguard brk, 42-6832, the top suspension bolt and by welding it to the inner face of the seat brk it gave three point fixing, which turned out to be more than adequate.

Since I only require one of the extended fixing lugs of the mudguard brk, 42 -6832, one was cut off as shown in the photos. The parts were assembled as shown and the brk welded to the inner face of the sear brk which was then sprayed.

Once assembled the three point fixing has been totally strong enough without any flex to take the frame lifting arm rear mounting without any problem.

And now when used with the c/stand lifting arm it's an absolute breeze to get the bike on the c/stand.

Hi I like the bracket you show. as I have vertebrae trouble and as a result getting my 1962 RGS on the centre stand is a 2 person job. I cant risk any more damage to my spine and I want to keep riding it.do you know any one that can make me a completed bracket assembly. many thanks. PS trying to find a centre stand with a arm is a joke.

Even though I'm 16 stone and formerly fit (age has caught up) I too struggled to get a GF on its centre stand. Basically couldn't manage it without help. The problem is exacerbated by the fact one is standing beside the bike when one should really be behind for a lift and pull.
I sorted the problem by first of all taking a little off the stand so the rear wheel is only just clear (almost touching) the ground when the bike is on its stand. I then welded a 1/2" dia angled bar to the side of the stand. Pretty unobtrusive - it sits beside the silencer when in the up position. Now, all I need to do is stand on that bar with one foot and the bike raises itself onto the stand. No lifting required.

add: note, in the 'stand in use' pic there's an odd bracket visible behind the footrest. Another mod - this time a short extension to the side stand so I can actually find it with my foot when coming to rest with the bike. Otherwise the stand's foot is invisible under the exhaust. Why struggle and risk the bike falling on you when just a small mod makes life so much safer / easier?

Hi.

I'm afraid that it was a one off fabrication that I did myself, so not something I can advise on who could make one for you. The same with the lifting arm, a blacksmith friend made the swan neck arm which was then welded to the original centre stand, again it was just a one off fabrication.

You could find a used/scrap unit BSA/Triumph center stand, cut of the arm off and cut it to the required length and get it welded to your existing stand?
