56 RR starting when hot

hi. when bike is cold fires right up. when it is hot i have to crack the throttle pretty good to get it to fire? it did not have aircleaner on when i got it i did put a pancake filter on. was told when i crack the throttle that is giving more air. any thought? thanks

G'day Gary.
That would be right. Cold motors like a rich mix, hence the choke. Warm/hot motors like it lean. You can try leaning off the pilot screw 1/4 to 1/2 turn or a smaller pilot jet.

What bike is this? If it ran OK previously without an air filter, then adding one will richen the mixture and require re-jetting of the carburettor.
