Wow mate. I'd leave all the patina and just make sure everything mechanical (motor, g/box, brakes etc) is up to scratch.

i should have said according to UK bsa club the motor and frame left the factory together in the devon red. and yes it is staying as is. it was dispatched to rich child in sept. of 1950.
