Did we just miss a birthday?
« on: 28.03. 2021 13:27 »
If  Life Began Here on March 9th 2006 with Erling's announcement that the forum was up and running, then we just missed the chance to pat everyone involved on the back for 15 years' worth of achievement . . . *beer* *thanks* *clap* *clap*

Yes thank you very much Erling, without this wonderful site & it's knowledgeable members I know I'd have 2 piles of parts in the shed instead of 2 running bikes ...  *good3*

happy birthday to the forum, cheers Mr Erling *beer*. it was my 10th birthday on Saturday 27th after croaking on the settee all those years ago. the cat sent me a card and the girlfriend sent a card and an irresistible box of smooth lindt lindor chocolates. she has also bought me some paint for the yonda which is progressing nicely and once done I must get back to the berger build. having owned my beezer 42 years I thought I knew a lot but this great forum has given me more knowledge about a lot of things and I find the people a lot more sociable than other forums.  just wait untill I get back to the pub and go back into jibberish mode, *countdown* erm a bit like my sober mode *bash*

I reckon bergs was rescued from the depths of despair by the radiance of this Forum, some 10 years ago. Either that, or a lack of refreshment outdoors is taking effect. Won't happen to me.....

Today is a day of lockdown relaxation here in the wooded mountainous area of Suffolk and we are planning a little celebratory tipple.  At 5PM  I shall raise a glass to the founder of this very Forum, and to all those folks in all parts of the world who have contributed or used advice to solve their problems.

Thanks Erling, and thanks to you all!!  Well  I reckon  that's a good enough excuse ......

 Swarfy.

greybeard I had the death rattle and croaked just as a paramedic was entering the house, three shocks and a needle later I came back and said to him " I died didn't I" he said yes for about 3 minutes but your back with us now. then they picked me up and got me in the ambulance to take me to hospital with the ambulance radio playing IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN!! I ended up in Sheffield northern general for a stent... very lucky it was a quiet morning and the ambulance service wasn't stretched or I wouldn't be here to bug you lot *whistle*

The birthday of the forum, was thinking about it during my trip to the Alps year 2000 and something. Took 'some' years before starting up, but looking back and looking at the forum, must say a rather good idea !

Picture, am at the top of "Passo dello Stelvio", 2,758 m, what a great road\place.

Some great historical photos
