Manchester Branch Camp, Dent

Hi all,
The Manchester branch of the BSAOC cancelled this year's camp (at the usual place - High Laning campsite, Dent near Sedburgh, Cumbria).

However I will still be attending, camping on the Friday and Saturday nights (21st and 22nd August), though this is NOT an official BSA camp.  Anyone wanting either a run out to visit, or camping would be welcome.  If camping, you'd need to book with the site - email preferred (info@highlaning.com) or phone 01539625239.

The cafes and one of the pubs (George and Dragon) are open, but likely to be hard work under the regulations.  I shall be obtaining beer from the Spar in Sedburgh.

I was tempted but checking the calender I'm committed to helping my son with some plumbing work. I hope you get company.

The Isle Of Wight BSAOC weekend has not been cancelled, (yet) . I'm going on the BSA if it's still on and in the car with Mrs Greybeard if not. I've already booked Gloria, the vintage caravan that I stayed in last year.

I used to hire and tow one like that forty years ago!

One year the hire was a brand new van, never on the road. Got five miles down the road in the hissing rain and had to brake hard, only to find subsequently that the dealers had not adjusted up the over-rider brakes! Car sailed though the gap on full brakes but the caravan did not!

I'd love to go to one of the camps but the few times I've been out there is always someone or someone's child making a laughing stock of social distancing. If I got covid it would probably kill me so have been very careful for almost six months.

Would have done the South Lakes Mountain Weekend in September after the Classic TT but all cancelled
