What gearbox oil would you recommend for a swing arm gearbox?

I use straight 50 engine and box, buy it in 5 gallon drums quite cheap from Aztec oils and at the price can afford to change the engine oil every 800to 1000miles have done this for years even before Aztec oils I used to strap a 5 gallon of straight 50
 on the bike bought from the Belper depo refinery

 Following on from The Owain hijack- I noted last night that the Tranny oil I've been using is Castrol EPX 90 that I bough about 10 years ago to change the oil in my Fourby but haven't quite gotten around to.....

 I've had to drain the Beeza box a few times and each time generally intend to reuse the oil but end up using use fresh stuff because I get impatient waiting for the used stuff to settle in separate clear juice bottles......initially it had the 'brass glitter' which I attributed to new bushes but I think there may still be some glittery residue each change all settle fairly well, and which I'm still monitoring- when I find the samples

 John CL- I'm sure you don't need me telling you how or why, but mine was also jumping out of third, and on investigating I found the dogs were all pointy so changed the gear and now is fine. I think it's actually an early box maybe from a longstroke (flat kicker spring) so if I recollect *all* the gears (or most) needed to change because they're different and wasn't sure if they should all be pointy because they were uniformly so...

 not sure if I'm finished here, but stuff to do.......

Hold on folks "Glittery bits" suggest wear - particles being sheared off, not a chemical reaction to an oil additive, or am I missing something (not an entirely rare event)

bsa bill the additives in EP oils contain sulphur which starts to react with copper speeding up wear.

Hi Dutch,
The gearbox was built from 99% NOS partss when I rebuilt it, that said 3rd was never quiet 
Time will tell what problems lie inside it

well it says its safe so it doesn't contain the additives of other EP oils . nice to know plenty people be happy with buying that I will still use 50 because MR Haynes says so. no not really because of Mr Haynes, because its cheap enough in a 5 gallon tub from aztec

They also do a SAE140 which will be ideal for my Sunbeam S7D rear drive with a bronze wormwheel. I currently use Castrol D which is about three times the price.
OK not a BSA but built under the same roof
