Hi guys, my test was purely to see if the petrol I've been buying for the last couple of years, believing it to be ethanol free was just that. So now I know, for definite, it contains ethanol.
In view of this and it seems 'being stuck with it'
and not having suitable equipment / facilities to separate the ethanol and remove it I'll continue to use premium petrol (because it has some additional benefits) and do everything I can to minimise the effects of the ethanol. I ride my G/Flash regularly during the summer and so the petrol in my bike gets renewed fairly often. I always keep my tank topped up to the filler cap to avoid condensation and add the additives that I believe will help counteract the problems we have with today's unleaded petrol. I also ride, when conditions allow, during the winter months, even if it's just a few miles around the block to keep things working and during any definite no, no riding weather I make a point of moving my bike and running the engine up long enough for it to get warmed up and also to get oil that has wet sumped returned back to the oil tank.
