Dunlop Trials tyres
« on: 01.11. 2018 08:04 »
Hi chaps,
Anyone aware of whether the Dunlop Universal Trials tyres are still available? Need 3.25x19 & 4.00x18 for Spitfire Scrambler.
I’d prefer not to put Cheng Shins on it.

Cheers

G'day Pete.
Have a look here https://www.motorcycletyrewarehouse.com.au/trials-speedway-sand
The K180 are a little bit wider but will fit.
Cheers

Thanks for the link Muskrat. 100/90 is 3.25/3.50 for front and 120/90 is 4.50/4.75 for rear. (They don’t list the 110/90)
Will these be noticeably chunkier? I don’t want them to look too big. I’ve been in touch with the PO and he has a big box of spares to send me inc a new rear tyre but I don’t know what brand so I’ll wait for that to turn up, hopefully next week.

Cheers

I put Cheng Shin trials tyres on the Star Twin for a long distance trial. Road handling is a bit odd but I discovered that I can still scrape the footrests in the dry. I'll be checking out their wet grip on a trip tomorrow. Better a new Cheng Shin than an old Dunlop?

Yes agreed, old cracked tyres are a recipe for disaster. Just looked at some photos of the Dunlop K180’s and they’re not as ‘knobby’ as I was looking for. More a Flat Tracker pattern. Won’t be riding this hard on the tar so asthetics is more important to me. I want to retain the factory look.

I’ve discovered the Dunlop Universal Trials are available from Webike in Japan in correct sizes. Front is 3.25 x19 and rear 110/90 x18 Not sure why rear is in metric. Approx $385AUD air freight or $305 on the slow-boat for the pair.

I prefer the Cheng Shins over Dunlop in road tyres, are they available in AU again?
