Fenland Classic Show Wimbotsham UK

Nice ride out yesterday to the Fenland Classic bike show at Wimbotsham just near Kings Lynn in Norfolk UK. I took the M21 shown in first photo as the A10 was mucky from Sundays downpour. Nice uneventful ride there with bike looking its very best after a recent paint touch up. Lots of A10s and one or two A7s... any of you here?? Fantastic day watching bikes coming in and going out, even watching the posers and show offs  I found I was taken by some of the interesting rat bikes and bobbers etc, the best being the Rough Superia shown in photo. Just loved some of the petrol tank art work, not much autojumble though...

Number two photo shows a really nice 'Poor Man's' Gold Star, very nicely done, great idea of painting the head and barrel silver to look like aloy, the guy who owns and or worked on this even ground down the large fin barrel to a tapered kinda way from base upto head to look like alloy castings... it took a min or two to realise it was not the real McCoy. The yellow tank Royal Enfield with an A10 engine in was interesting too.

On way home, bike ran good again until I had a bum break and just would not start again, thankfully no one around to see, (aint it horrible when people watch) turns out the spark plug cap was somehow knackered inside as I had taken it off to strip back cable sheathing and attached bare wire to top of spark plug, sparks then returned. I suspect magneto windings was also complaining because engine was really hot - was running very lean, plug was super clean! Great thing about old side valves is that I don't think you can hole a piston.

Yes, good show LJ, what do you reckon on that red chop near the cider stand, A10 crankcases with A65 top end and a weired chaincase, possibly an AMC gearbox? I thought mine was a bitza. Wonder how it all fitted together. Did you win any prizes? cheers.

Hi Ray, I'm wondering how I missed the Cider stand let alone the red chop. There was a lot to see and I guess most escaped my vision. Didn't win any prizes though, my prize alone was the ride and day out, that was enough.
