Big hello from Northern ireland
« on: 02.08. 2018 19:40 »
Hi from Norniron  *beer*. Let me introduce myself i am Stuart originally from Manchester and for the past 18 years happily married and living in the Causeway coast and glens area of Norniron. A velocette fettler for many years but of late i have had a flirtation with modern stuff, my Velo is in a thousand pieces and is my retirement project in ten years time. I have been a TT course marshal for some years and in particular the Manx Grand Prix. After this years Manx i am going to part with my Yamaha Virago and go hunting for a project i have had an ich for these last years, my target is very specific , a 1940s A7 plunger. Basket case preferred or very oily rag, reason? two really, one is budget *conf* two is i am a lifelong messer and arser so much prefer to bring something back to life and enjoy than buy ready made.I have two small boys who are crazy about old bikes and they have been badgering me for some time to either get the Velo back to life or scratch my BSA itch so that's the plan. One problem i have with this site is as i have been waiting for approval [Thank you mods] i have browsed extensively and for the life of me cannot any nasty Prima Dona types or arses that usually reside on motorcycle forums, am i missing something  *????* Anyway thanks for having me and expect loads of barmy questions and input from now on  *eek*

G'day 59viper,  *welcome*.
You must have a big itch wanting to start with a Long Stroke A7 46-50. The hardest to find and get parts for. We have a section dedicated to them https://www.a7a10.net/forum/index.php?board=38.0 with a number of members posting.
Most Velo owners I know are "nut and bolt fanatics" so I would imagine your restoration will be picture perfect.
Yes this is the friendliest forum on the planet.
Cheers

Just in from a ride on my 1951 A7 Star Twin. I have toured the Emerald Isle on it. One of my memorable moments was being stopped by armed police to be told the results of the NW 200. Best of luck in your search. And get that Velo back together!
