apologies for hijacking this thread (split done), but when you mentioned XT500 you might appreciate the pic of my XT and BSA together in the eastern goldfields woodlands (Western Australia); it's OK we weren't lost just south of Ora Banda!

G'day Richard.
Yes there's a few forum members with a beast. Thinking yours is a 78-79 model. Mines a 76 bush pig. All major parts original (patina +) XS650 gauges, DR250 seat, sportster h/light, PE blinkers, home made pipe, Kraft peanut butter jar air box. It all works and is registered!
My A7 will go just about anywhere the XT will, just slower.
