How much clutch play is acceptable
« on: 24.02. 2018 21:19 »
Took the  primary chaincase off my A10 plunger this morning for a little inspection. Everything seemed to be as it should but I did notice that the clutch basket does have a bit of play in it. i.e. a few degrees yaw when I pull on the clutch basket. I assume that clutch baskets should not have more than one degree of freedom (roll) in them. Regardless, the motorcycle appears to pull and ride fine. Leave it alone? Fit new roller bearings? Save up for a fancy new clutch?

G'day Owain.
A little movement, 0.010" in and out and 0.080" yaw in my clutch. If the outer edge of the cover starts contacting the screw hole boss's it's time for a refresh.
Cheers
