Greetings
« on: 10.12. 2017 14:57 »
G'day,

By way of introduction my name is Graham, I currently reside in Perth Western Australia & I've recently become the proud owner of a 1951 Golden Flash.

I've always had a soft spot for the Golden Flash as my Grandfather had a couple in the 1950's & 60's (that's me in the avatar).

It's been an ambition of mine to own an A10 for many years, the intention was to take on a restoration project however I recently came across one that had been meticulously restored by a previous owner and I thought 'why not".

I've owned a quite a few bikes over the years and I currently ride a Victory Boardwalk.

This is the first vintage bike I've owned so I guess I'm a little bit wet behind the ears.
From what I can see there's a wealth of information and some very knowledgeable contributors on the forum.
Hopefully I can pick up some tips and get advice on any issues that come my way.
I'll apologise now for any obvious questions I put out there. *smile*

Cheers...Graham

Hi and greetings from Essex. Great looking bike preserved by your great weather. This is the best forum I have been on over the years, few experts on here and they all enjoy helping. Greybeard is my favourite. Hope you don't mind me asking, the front brake arm is at a strange angle; looks like the adjustment may be all used up. Stand to be corrected. Merry Christmas.

Hi Graham. Welcome!
Yes, you've found the best forum for A series machine owners.

I had to look up Victory Boardwalk:

Do you know exactly what has been done to the engine of the Beeza?

The brake backplate lever should be at an angle of less than 90° to the cable run; yours is well over! The ideal angle when the brake is applied is 90°

BTW, sorry for setting a bad example by going off-topic!  *bash* Technical discussions should be in the relevant sections.

Welcome to the forum. My first thought was "OMG! That's a beautiful bike."  My next thought, weird as it sounds, was, "I hope he paid a lot for it." But, really, I assume you got fair deal.

Beautiful bike. Yup, you've found the best forum. IMO, not just for the A10, but the best forum I've found for anything.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome and positive comments, also thanks to A10JWO & Greybeard for picking up the issue with my front brake.

That's a great looking bike you have there Greybeard. Off on a DGR or is that just how you get around?  *smile*

I'm not sure what modifications if any were done to my engine as I'm the second owner since the restoration and the previous owner was unaware of any modifications.
I suspect it was just a strip down & rebuild.
