AAU question
« on: 20.09. 2024 12:13 »
Quick question:

I was in the timing side the other day to sort a non-charging issue (which turned out to be a brush sticking in its holder). Whist in there I noticed that both springs on the AAU were broken - question one I wonder why? The AAU was rebuilt along with mag by priory mags. Obviously I've replaced the springs no problem.

I've been through the awkward timing process which has been written about previously - how tight should the retaining nut be? It seems to distort and mash the C washer before its as tight as would think it may need to be.

Thanks very much.

I suspect a dodgy batch of new springs since the originals tend to last a very long time.
Re C washer - have you got the C washer and the dished washer nice and flat?
Tightness? Not too tight, the drive is on the taper so you want it pulled on that but not so tight its a pig to get off.
