4 Spring clutch

After riding for a while my gear change seems to deteriorate. For the sake of clarity, by that I mean the pedal action noticeably stiffens, and selecting neutral becomes difficult. Another symptom is that 1st sometimes crunches, or is difficult to select. This is especially so when stationary. When I initially set out for a ride the gear action is noiseless and precise, so it seems fairly clear to me that as the clutch warms up the plates are possibly expanding and causing this problem. I am using ATF by the way. Would backing the springs off a bit help to resolve this problem? and if so how far would they have to be unscrewed? half a turn, or a bit more maybe? I know this a bit like how long is a piece of string, but some guidance would be useful before I go diving in.

 Plenty of oil in the 'box I presume ?
Started building in about 1977/8 a on average '52 A10 -built from bits 'n pieces never resto intended -maybe 'personalised'
Have a '74 850T Moto Guzzi since '92-best thing I ever bought doesn't need a kickstart 'cos it bump starts sooooooooo(mostly) easy

Yes duTCH I am very meticulous about oil levels in both gear box and engine. My philosophy has always been that oil is far cheaper than engine or gear box rebuilds.

G'day John.
Sounds like clutch drag to me. Friction plates expanding when hot.
I'd only back off 1 turn. This is assuming ALL adjustments (arching through 90 degrees and cable) are correct and the pressure plate lift is square.
If using auto fluid use type F.

Agree with Muskrat on drag, also check out the push rod and the ball in the actuating arm.
