is this the type for the 59 onwards or pre 59?
the one I have is 59 onwards, clamps on each fork leg.
I actually purchased new old stock from Peter Hammonds in Cirencester as I fitted a twin leading shoe front brake to my full width 8inch hub and needed to machine a new groove to bring the fork legs in slightly so aiding the brake locating lug in closer to the fork leg.
"if you know what i mean"

Yes, its the 58 on cast iron hub one, which fits the forks with the clamps.

I picked up a TLS front brake plate on which I had the lug slot ally welded deeper and machined back so it meets with the fork lug properly. I have now found a later wheel with the flange which is what goes with the TLS brake. I thought that if I could find a spindle, it would save taking the one out of the wheel I already have on the bike.

One question on yours, you machined a new groove - did you machine both sides and move the wheel over, or did you machine one side only and "Spring" the legs closer together ?

Andy
I machined it one side only
I did not see the point in doing both sides as logicaly I presumed that the brake plate must be a bit thinner and as we are only talking 1/4 inch the forks will naturally spring in 1/8" both sides and the wheel should still be central to both fork legs, it looks ok
Now the annoracks oops sorry i meant engineers will tell me I am wrong however it has been like it for some time with no problems the mot station use two straight edges to check the wheel alignment and have ok'd it.
I could have bought the original one with me at the weekend but it looks like your sorted, money would not have changed hands as I prefer to exchange parts (barter) rather than sell small spares.
see you there
Richard
