hope I am not being too presuptious , being new to the forum, but myself and a load ( 50 ) of other riders will be doing this annual charity run, I know we are all a bit strapped for cash at the moment,  but every little helps, even just turning up at the ACE cafe in London at 6.30 am Sunday morning to say well done will help  *smile* .. hopefully we all make it safe & sound.. last year we all  managed  John - o - Groats to Lands End  ( I managed the 876 Miles in 14hrs 50 mins.... felt that at my age :-)  but never say never :-) !!!!

I am on the scrounge:-)

On Saturday 20th June 2009, a group of adventure motorcyclists will ride from Edinburgh to London ? the long way round!

Taking advantage of the longest day of the year, we set off from Edinburgh and travel via Belfast, Dublin and Cardiff before arriving in London, all in under 24 hours, raising funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Make-A-Wish grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses, and our aim is to raise £5000 to help them achieve their goal to grant 21 wishes a week by the year 2010 ? please help us to achieve this target by clicking on the Justgiving link on the right in the site bellow and donating whatever you can afford. Every little helps.

Sounds a very good cause Ray and I wish you luck! But you really should do it on an A10 Y'know.  ;)

My A10 took me around the whole country picking up 80 - 90 Land marks during the year of 2006 covering some 11,00 miles! not all at once as we had six months to do it in, the old girl never let me down she just kept going and going.

I cant remember the Landmarks in Aberdeenshire but you might recognise some of them from my web page, boy some of them roads up your way were just fantastic especially so up in the north west.

Hi LJ,
it is a good cause  last year we raised £15,000 for Macmillan cancer nursing..  it originally started as an idea for a run with a few guys but 'grew' and one of the girls had had a rough time losing her Father and one thing led to another and we rattled the tins ( one of the bike lost a chain on the M5 and was refitting it with the help of the Sweeper rider and another rider who stopped to assist.. the Police stopped as they were on the hard shoulder.. the Police ended up donating a couple of Hi Vis vests and  a donation for the Cause too :-))  We are now making an Annual event of the Longest day.. will see what madness is dreamt up for next year :-)

Think I like your journey better :-) than 14 hrs hours on the hard seat of a Honda big trail bike... nice site.. Never though about panning for Gold in Britain  *smile*

The Longest day run last year with the XRV troops was a bit of a mission, but fun in its own way, as I say I think your trip is much more enjoyable.. Taking time to smell the roses.. The John-o-Groates to Landsend run was more endurance  for bike & rider.. Fuel coffee fuel coffee.. Then the effects of the coffee!! Then just fuel.. Glad I did it.. The run is open to all machines.. So I may have a goal here.. Get the A10 ready!!

Will see if I can get more of the frame number (need to watch more CSI episodes on TV to develop my forensic skill :-)  I will post more pics of the frame as it could be a CA  I did not think it was that old..

I've been doing my very own forensic stuff with my latest basket case, its a nightmare I can tell you! Recovering frame numbers ought to have its very own thread here on the forum. For now though I'll direct you to another forum and my thread on trying...  *problem* to recover a frame number on my M20! The thread wont be there for long as stuff falls off the end of the list after a few days... Take a look anyhow. Cheers!

As for gold panning... Your lucky living very near to where I've had a very good half ounce from near Brechin near Montrose a few years back! lotta digging and bad back guaranteed, think i'll stick to motorcycling!  *smile*
