A7 Small Journal Crank Wanted
« on: 06.04. 2017 21:03 »
Hi All,

I'm looking for a replacement crank for my 1960 A7 Shooting Star. I've had a quick trawl through the usual places like ebay but nothing as turned up yet.

Unfortunately the journals on my crank have sustained some deep gouges which haven't cleaned up with a 0.040 grind.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

I sent my last one away for repair when it got that bad, to a firm in Faversham, they did an excellent job bringing it back to the original size by welding it up after cutting groves in it to build up the material, it did cost me £300 to get it done and I still have it as a spare, you can have it off me for the same price if you are desperate.

Regards TTJohn

Thanks for the reply TTjohn

Mine has already been built up and reground once and I've been told it's a bad idea to have it done again due to the heat involced???

Someone has contacted me and promised me one next week, however if the deal goes bum I'll definitely contact you.

Thanks

I'm in the wrong place but as a further back up I have an a7 crank that has had its last regrind and I thought was bin material......yours for the not insignificant postage! It's not been crack tested so I would be nervous about investing too much in it......

Are used a7 cranks harder to find than a10?

Thanks KiwiGF

Thanks for the offer, its good to have a few options available.

Im not really sure if A7 cranks are harder to come by than A10 but a quick look on ebay would probably suggest that they are. Presumably more small journal cranks have ended up in the scrap bin than large journal ones but im only guessing.
