Wanted: head steady parts

 Does anyone have a surplus set of 42-55 brackets for a swing arm head steady? These are not the "L" shaped brackets that mount to the rocker box.

 I need the two straps that mount to the frame.

 I know this would be simple to make, but using original ones will help insure everything is OK with the frame and engine as far as mounting. The two have not been together since 1971, and i just want to be sure nothing else was modified for the failed "chopperization" that never got off the ground.

Lee, make new ones out of decent steel strap, the originals are flimsy light gauge with a stiffener pressing and tend to fracture.

 Ok,

 Can anyone take some pictures of an original one with measurements? Especially distance between bolt hole and closest edge of slotted side?

 I guess as long as the header pipes run sorta parallel to the roadway I will assume no motor mounts were moved.  *conf*

Also maybe consider making a anti-vibration one as in the neat design by chaterlea25 (search "head steady"), sorry I dont know how to make a link. Cheers from Gav

Hi Lee.
Just checked mine in the shed and managed  a rough sketch but tried to attach, but system rejecting file to large, tried to reduce but failed.
Maybe I could Email you it.

They are of pressed construction  so you might have strengthen your version
