A10 SPECIAL
« on: 07.12. 2016 07:38 »
Ok seeing I posted "Bobs" bike I'll post a pic of one that I have recently finished.
58 BSA A10 SPECIAL
Motor Fully reco'ed , Lightened flywheel, fully balanced, larger crank bearing and bush, +40 10:1 Comp pistons with 3 piece oil rings, Twin port head with 308 Valves (Holden) Obviously beefier springs.
Rocker adjusters have swiveling rocker feet from a Mazda.
Lots of other special little mods to bushes etc to improve oil circulation.
48mm Side-Draught  Weber Carb
Custom Oil tank, side covers and dash made by "Bob". Custom BSA Instruments
12v Electronic Alton Genny, TriSpark Maggy, belt drive clutch, Scrambles gearbox
Twin leader Modified 8inch, 21 inch front, 19 rear.. Acronts, Goldie type guards
Probably heaps of other little bits and pieces that had to be made or modified to suit everything.
I actually started with a Weber carb the built the bike around it.
Thought I'd get the "Stone" thing happening with the fairing but most people reckon it's a Mad Max bike, or they tell me the fairing looks "Fooked"
It's not for everyone but I don't really give a shit, I did it because I could and that it is original one off.
Heaps of people had an input in some way, so thank you all for your work. and special thanks to "Bob"
Cheers
Will post some pics of the Super Flash when I can take some more.

Cheers,
Andy

Yes very very pretty  *yeah*. I must admit once I have the Notrun on the road and the matchless finished, I fancy doing a special. A7 bottom end and crank with A10 barrels as a start, I have read BSA built a few motors like this for testing and found they where very good. This build has now added Webber carbs to the possible build list and the blue colour is nice too.

I had an engine with that set up many years ago, it had been done badly and didn't last. While it did though it was indeed rather pleasant to ride, I had no idea B.S.A. might have done this!

Lovely work there Andyhosie!

Nice one Andy- I'm no expert, but would've thought that twin-choke Webbers'd be overcooked ?

Curious how the A10 barrels and A7 crank would work without longer rods or shaving the top, in which case wouldn't A7 barrels do the job ? *dunno*
Started building in about 1977/8 a on average '52 A10 -built from bits 'n pieces never resto intended -maybe 'personalised'
Have a '74 850T Moto Guzzi since '92-best thing I ever bought doesn't need a kickstart 'cos it bump starts sooooooooo(mostly) easy

Oh man, what a bike! Seems to highlight the difference between me, as DIY A10 mechanic always trying to keep it on the road, and a different level of genius creativity and willingness to invest. Congratulations, Andy.

If I remember correctly Dutch, the A7 barrels were bored out to take A10 pistons on the one I had. The skirts had to be shortened though.

Nice bike Andy, I think it looks coool.. And by the list of special parts sourced and fabricated or her it would have been cool to build I bet.
I've seen the odd road rocket fender ornament from time to time but yours seems a bit more special, could it be the rare "super dooper rocket" fender ornament.
 Cheers Thomas

I'd route the HT lead away from the fuel supply and get the kink out of the oil hose.
