oh no not another rocket gold star replica. bsa must have produced 10s of thousands and they always seem to block up the hard shoulder on runs.

Hi Edboy,

*????* *????* *????*
At the bottom of the ebay listing the seller gives the frame and engine numbers which are in line with the genuine article
As I said in the other thread its likely to be the real thing (I can see the 4 lug frame for a start in the pics)
When that was left in a shed nobody bothered to build replicas??

hi john, an older well known bsa chap called tubby who has a couple of genuine bsa goldstars with their engine test papers. and was once associated with blays in twickenham once told me the only sure way to prove its genuine is if you knew its history because the copies are so good. not knocking a good project for someone but isnt the frame a new stock replacement and the cases standard a10?
in the 80,s i remember some tuning artists were stamping r and hc on their standard a10 cases to look authentic. i suspect its what bsa factory practised when selecting the rocket models and i certainly couldnt tell if rocket crankcases are genuine or not.

Hi Ed,
Yes Sure, history and provenance is what its all about

Not sure what you mean ??
Replacement frames were unnumbered,
Its a fairly difficult job to recreate the number stamped on the gusset plate without it being fairly obvious
With RGS models its the frame thats unique to them

Yes you engine casings re stamped all the time, some good and some bad,
supporting evidence is always needed

genuine or a copy matching numbers full history at the end of the day its not about the bike its all about money 8k for a replica 22k for genuine one  the only number that would interest me is the 14k in my back pocket does it go or handle better if numbers match or it has two extra frame lugs bought one new in 63 traded it in for a t110

hi, this is the wrong part of the forum to discuss the rgs models but there are about 3 type of goldie projects on ebay at the moment so we may be getting our wires crossed. but get your wallets out , relive your youth when we all had one.

Hi All
Well the eBay RGS made  £11,124 *countdown*

There's one (in a lot better shape *smile*) advertised fairly local to me on done deal.ie
https://www.donedeal.ie/vintagebikes-for-sale/bsa-rocket-gold-star-1962/13356249

photos are poor on the ad but if anyone wanted me to go and have a closer look just ask
I wonder what the asking will be  *????* *????*
