The Salt Finally Cooperated this year
« on: 26.08. 2016 02:00 »
Hello All,
just returned home from the SCTA speed week event at the Famous bonneville salt flats. The old A7 ran like the devil early in the week until we ran a little to hot of a load of nitro and split the motor in 3 pieces right along the crank centerline. We gathered out pride up off the race course, had a second set of cases airmailed out to salt lake for the next day and set out to build a second motor for the rest of the week. All in all we turned out out best time yet 115.22 just a few tenths under the 500cc record but could not seal the deal. Here are some pics for you, Enjoy!

hi guys, good effort Dan but quite a blow (no pun intended) to the record. Looks like it couldn't move the head so it moved the crank. That's some cam you got on it,cheers

G'day Dan.
Ouch *ex*. Ring flutter? Let some dope into the cases then a flash past the rings = BOOOM. Or too much compression and too many revs. I see you through bolted so it had to go lower. Bugga.

Definitely built for speed, not comfort. I've got some extra foam for you to sit on if you'd like.  *smile*

Hi Musky,
Primary 1.942:1
Final sprockets are 20t and 46
I have to start out in second gear when Im running over 50% nitro because the rpm with that much fuel in the cylinders is too big, I do believe that I was up around 130mph according to the tach on one run however I had to pull off course before the timing traps as I was above redline at about mid course and could feel the impending doom.
