Golden Flash in progres
« on: 09.02. 2016 19:59 »
Hello
After nearly 3 years slow restoring my gf plunger, i have started the engine this winter. Some paintwork are left yet to do.
This forum as been a goldmine for my as i live in Sweden. Not a lot of BSAs here.
The last pict are as i found the bike, a real wreck, handpainted black and red, but underneat i found what colour it had started its life in.
Now i am trying to find a gastank that its alright, i bought a tank from ebay but that where a mistake bad metalwork and chrome.
But it will do for the moment

You may not need me to tell you this, but you're doing fantastic work. I love it all but I'm like a fish to a lure, so the great treatment of the rocker-box oil feed caught my eye. Oil cooler?

Hello Ilkka,
I believe that your new petrol tank is not correct, (at least, for the UK A10) it's too small. The old tank looks correct. The fuel tank on my Plunger A10 was pretty bad but has turned out very well. I managed to remove most of a dent on the shoulder then I sent it off for heavy copper plating and polishing, (to fill rust pitting) before chroming. The paint shop needed to fill the ripples left from the dent removal but there is now no sign of the dent. Is your tank really beyond repair?

You can see my tank during this video. https://goo.gl/Z4BXgo

Lookin' good Ilkka.
That looks like the smaller A7 tank.

Hi

Thanks alot for the kind words, its sort of "just one more hill" state i am in, to finsh things, yeah i recon the tank is wrong but in time to found a desent Plunger tank
The small A7 tank will do. The old one can be saved and painted but never chromed, its has more a surface of the moon, it needs a lot of filler and sanding to be in any shape.

You've certainly got a great workshop to quietly build it in and its looking lovely. From the image with the snow it brings to mind perhaps it needs a bit on the side  *whistle*

The late big fin plunger bikes are real lookers  *wink2*
