Ariel Square Four part Offered free
« on: 06.04. 2017 17:19 »
I have an item in my box of bits that I believe came from a 1939 Ariel Square Four G that I once owned. I thought it was a toolbox lid screw but now I think it may be from the petrol filler cap as seen in second and third photos. It's in poor condition but solid. Anyone interested in paying only the postage for it?

Had a look at the toolbox on my friends 1937 SQ4 yesterday and I am certain that yours is a loose lid toolbox screw that Ariel used from 1937 to 1939.

Hi Greybeard,
Do you have pics for us of your 4G?

I think you may be right about it being a toolbox lid screw as the 39 4G had the loose lid toolbox with the centre fixing. It does not look like the screw in my Ariel petrol cap as yours looks a lot longer.

I wish I did! I guess I did not have a camera while I owned the machine. It must have been early '70's. I paid 60GBP for the non runner with no registration document, (log book). Managed to get the vehicle re-registered. Turns out it was first registered in 1939 but had not been used since 1942. My feeling was that it was owned by someone who did not return from WW2. I was not able to get it running so sold it for 60GBP plus my current A10. Wish I'd kept the Squariel!! :-\
