T J Wassell - beware!
« on: 11.07. 2016 12:43 »
I've just become aware of the brand T J Wassell. Apparently this company, that is no longer trading was run by a Tim Wassell and has no connection with the company of the same name. I bought a set of plunger shrouds from Burton Bike Bits made by T J Wassell; they are absolute rubbish! The metal is very thin;  I weighed one of the larger painted shrouds to compare with my BSA originals; the repro item was approximately half the weight! The chromed shrouds are already pitting slightly and the inside of all shrouds are rusty. I have now bought a set of lovely new shrouds from Andrew at Priory Magneto's and will return the crappy ones to Burton's. I keep forgetting that Priory have lots of stuff apart from dynamos and mags.
When I contacted Burton's to say I wasn't happy with theirs the reply was short with not a hint of apology. Customer Care 1 out of 10!

Dear Sir
Thank you for your email. Unfortunately we no longer have any of these left, and I am not aware of any other makers for these covers.

If you wish to return these then feel free to.
