Title: Side stand lug
Post by: Slash on 22.02. 2025 15:55
Is the side stand half moon lug on the frame tapped 5/16 BSCY or is it unthreaded? Mine is bunged up with paint, I don't know whether to drill it clear or run a tap through.

Mine are threaded. One thread is buggered so I use nuts with both of them as they tend to work loose.

G'day Slash.
The frame lug is just a hole. The side stand has a bolt & nut or a pin & split pin.
Cheers

The lug which is part of the frame is tapped 5/16 cycle in my experience

Some confusion here.

The 2 holes that allow the side stand to bolt on the frame are or should be threaded

The pivot hole is not but this is not on the frame but the bracket that bolts on the frame.

My pivot nut has a lock nut instead of a pin, but then it is an aftermarket bit.

The frame lug (half moon) on my 1960 A10 and 1961 A7 are both threaded, never checked what thread it is  *smile*

Both lug holes threaded 5/16cyc on my ‘58 flash too but I used longer bolts and put a ‘lock nut’ on the back side just to be safe. Don’t want that lot falling over, or onto something valuable!
