Title: Recent auction, some good news for A10s
Post by: limeyrob on 21.11. 2024 10:21
Scroll down to the bikes. The one A10 sold for more than a decent looking Trident and BMW and more than double an Aerial.  Looks like A10s are still desirable and perhaps getting the recognition they deserve.

I notice it was a Super Rocket A10, so that would have helped - makes the E.bay classified prices somewhat over optimistic !

Yes but it still made double the BMW R80 which is interesting.

wish I had money in the 60s there was a place called 4th crossroads I think it was in Twickenham they had a big yard full of bikes many were 10 - 20 pounds I used to go there to scrounge parts .
they had just about any british bike made in some state of repair I remember buying an ex GPO bantam for 5 pounds but back then it was my weeks wages as an apprentice .

It was the bike graveyard, 4th Cross Rd, remember it well, may even still have the sticker somewhere.  What a place!  Did you ever go to the bike breakers in Sunbury?  If has an old terraced shop with parts everywhere and the floor buckling. I did hear it collapsed which would not surprise me.

Can't believe some of those prices they seem all over the shop. 28k for a Ford MkII Escort RS2000!
Can't can't give a Bentley, Mercedes or a Jag away then a 68 Ford Escort MKI Van goes for silly money...interesting market.
I do fancy one of those lovely Jag XKR's for 3 grand tho! ... There must be a reason they are so cheap... *eek*

Watched a car auction yesterday on live stream, it was even more crazy with some real bargains and others that made no sense.  May be a time to pick up something you've wanted but has been too pricey.

Hi All,
The non standard A7 in the link made a decent price in spite of a very dodgy engine number stamping *ex*

It did look very clean and some nice parts on it. I'd missed the dodgy stamping, I usually look out for thing like that *eek*

Looking through the car prices was illuminating. Decent Moggies for £2000. Even a decent looking 1934 Morris Minor for £2000.
Just as well my shed isn't big enough!

i have not been to the pub, for ages.... i would swap my combo possessed van called christine for a moggy thou / shooting brake that was growing moss in the back windows and in need of new sills and floor pans any day.

I think every city back in the day had its Bike Boneyard  in Lierpool there were a numbet ,Taffy Evans  then Holly grove 3 storey Edwardian hse plus cellar rammed with bikes of all sorts . Wavertree saw another 3 or 4 and everton rd had more than 4 .I worj=ked for a time in one Grampian motors everton valley. The bikes we picked up and spares . Bikes came from annoyed parents mostly mums whose sons had bought a bike and when they got married and moved out just left . I always found that bizarre and when I married my bike was with us . I got a goldie front hub from the owner for a song  used for 3 mths and a great brake but I had the misfortune to be hit by a  bus  head on and lost and my lovely brake was nicked while waiting collection fro a Police compound ,unbelievable but true !

Hi Berger,
Now is the time to buy a classic moggy or other, there are 10k plus restoration out there for a fraction of the money asked for a few years ago!
BUT
Anything Ford seems to have gone through the roof *eek*
