Post by: BSA500 on 25.07. 2024 13:28
Can anyone remember where you can get the carb resleeved. I've had a couple done in the past but lost the contact details etc etc

Martin Bratbury used to re-sleeve but I heard he'd retired. Not heard if anyone took over the service.

Suggest a better alternative is to buy a new carb (Premier is available) from either Hitchcocks, or Surrey Cycles.
Relatively inexpensive, good for a lifetime (at our age).

Hi All,
Look up "Joe the carb" on facebook
Joe makes oversize slides rather than sleeve the old ones
He makes a lot of parts for early AMAC carbs too
Very good service and good value too

Another option is to buy an oversized slide from Surrey Cycles. I did this last year and found it to be the perfect solution to 'spitting back and generally sloppy slide issues. If you do this you need to spend a bit of time easing high spots in the body with 1200 emery until the slide is a snug fit. Not as tricky as it sounds and very effective.
