Title: Dead Dinosaurs
Post by: muskrat on 19.07. 2024 20:57
G'day Fellas.
Just read this https://www.motorcycle.com/bikes/features/de-gassed-how-will-you-fuel-your-classic-motorcycle-in-2044-44601100
I doubt I'll be around to worry but what about our kids/grankids inheriting our bikes?
Cheers

Inherit? They'll be ten bob a ton skip-fillers long before that.

They won't want an oily noisy lump of metal, they will want in immersive interactive 4D classic bike experience.  They will then wander about with a VR headset on telling everyone how much they like classic bikes.

after figuring out how to live forever, I plan to get a still and re-jet the BSAs for methanol made from pototo scraps and lawn clippings. remove all the electrics and no speed locked emission controlled internet powered govt tech is going to stop me!

Or skip-rakers if they grow up less privileged.

I am going to go with the Covid approach to toilet rolls and stockpile a large tanker full of fuel for my "habit".

Bad fuel, low octane? buy some octane booster to put the bang back in my stockpile.

I believe that is problem solved.

Trouble is petrol is no longer what it was. No longer can you go to something that's been standing for 5 yrs and start it up, because today's petrol is a blend of mysterious molecules that die young. The component that gets you started evaporates and the ethanol (why's that used?) hygroscopic. I think the methanol route is the way to go (yes, I know that's hygroscopic too). And all for what? To satisfy the easily led who go around thinking fossil fuel is damaging the planet because they read somewhere that man is causing the planet to heat up with CO2. Sad they never studied science, which proves CO2 rise occurs around 600 years AFTER global warming. It doesn't cause it, it's a consequence of.

G'day Bergs.
Knock the timing back a degree or three.
I use Stabil https://www.sta-bil.com.au/ to keep the fuel stored at home fresh. Not needed when refueling out on the road.
I don't use E fuel but I boost the octane to about 105 with Nulon Pro Strength Octane Boost (140ml/20Lt) and Castrol R (40ml/20Lt) for top end lube (smells like racing fuel) in everything, even the lawn equipment.
Cheers
