Bit of an introduction ,
The name is steve and I'm from Porthleven which is in Cornwall.
As a youngster i had Japanese bikes but after a short break thanks to my dad I crossed over into classics.
My daily commute is a 1960 triumph 3ta ,except when its torrential rain as she doesn't like to much water.
I have a 1961 a10 which I resprayed in Nutley blue.
A 1963 Greeves which is now in trials trim.
A 1966 cb450.
and when the plunger is finished I have a 1980 z650c to have a go at.
All I've got to do is live long enough to fix them as I'm knocking on a bit now. ::hh::

Hi Steve(?),
I am about to move to Hayle so I will not be far from Porthleven. I sold my '55 Plungie last year to buy one of the new BSA' s. Maybe we could arrange some rides later on, (as long as you would not be too embarrassed to be seen with a fake BSA 🤔)

G'day Steve
Thanks for the intro.
Is the A10 your dads? What year/size is the plunger?
Cheers

I like all bikes even scooters so a ride out would be good,
the plunger is now mine and has a 1953 frame with a 1951 engine which was confirmed by the bsa owners club.
Its all in bits at the moment just waiting for some good weather so I can spray the tank and mudguards.

Do you know the history of the engine? You may already know about the infamous Sludge Trap and the crank end float and the seized up oil pump.Just be sure that the internals are ok before you start riding the bike.

Morning Steve, may surprise you but we have another member from Helston ! My Aunt and uncle lived in St Keven and My My settled in Ruan minor after my Dad sadly died whilst down there so after Spending quite a bit of time down there I know you have some wonderful roads down there for bikes . Enjoyb the forum there are lots of highly skilled guys on here who all are more than willing to share info best of luck ,oh don't forget thr sludge trap or GB will on your case , sorry GB *smile* *smile*

With reference to the sludge trap and bits I've just had SRM do the the bottom
end even though we have never had a running issue with it.
When I restored my 3ta I had the engine back out 3 times with running issues
which meant more scratches on the frame etc.
I paid a lot to have the bottom end done but thought at least the whole engine shouldn't need to come back out.[famous last words]. And I didn't tell her indoors how much I spent on it either ,

Very wise ,nudge ,nudge ,wink wink !
