Turning 44’ long, 80,000 lbs Hoist shaft on 60” engine lathe at Nordberg Plant Milwaukee, 1930s. Pond lathe is from the 1800s.

I remember as an apprentice the big Dean Smith & Grace lathe was too big for the machine shop so was in the fitters shop next door.
