Title: WANTED BSA A7 SS Cylinder Head 67-1122
Post by: Hillkidstr on 10.03. 2021 16:35
Hi I know I am new to the forum but I am trying to help a friend out who has a BSA A7 SS that needs a new cylinder head due to some bad cracks. This is the alloy cylinder head stamped with the number 67-1122, ideally looking for one undamaged. Hopefully someone has one stuffed away somewhere.

Thanks 😊

Hi, I have one, which has had some damage repair of fins. I can send photos. Its a bare head, no valves. I want £160, which is what I was going to have as a start price on Ebay.

Hi. Do you have your own A?

Sadly not I feel like I do with the amount of time I've spent on this one 😂 we have found a few heads but they have either needed alot of work heavily pitted cracked ect or have already been modified sadly that was the case with Micks as the valves had been cut out to what I suspect fit 650 valves.

I'm just trying to help a good friend out as its such a shame to have it just sitting there when it should be out on the open road.

Get yourself an Iron Head.  Being more widely available  they are also a lot cheaper. This means in the short term the bike is a runner and out of your way. No sooner have you done this, a surfeit of alloy heads will appear, just like buses, none, then all at once.

It's Sod's Law and there are probably a good few on the Forum waiting for this event in the Space Time Continuum to take place. Do us a favour, get an Iron Head.

 Swarfy.

Any decent alloy heads are hard to find and my experience is be prepared to resurrect the dead and to spend accordingly ! A10 alloy heads are usually stuffed and the rarer A7ss ones happily cross fit to the A10 so likewise hard to find.
The days this stuff was common and cheap are sadly long gone.

Expect to weld up fins, new seats, bore guide holes etc. $$$  *doh*
Sorry

Looks like one valve guide is loose.

Hi All
B.S. Its not possible to say if the guide was removed tight or loose, although the step in the bore looks OK in the underside view ?
Its been relisted, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363380340404

Being of a suspicious nature, if the valve guide is out it probably fell out. Not unknown in alloy heads.

If the hole for the guide is not cracked, what's the problem? Just need to machine up an oversize bronze guide.
