A10 Frame tube size
« on: 24.10. 2012 12:44 »
Guys,

The frame of my A10 has be extensively 'Modified' (read ?ruined?!) by a previous owner and they have hacked off the rear footrest mounting tubes! They have hacked off a lot more than that actually, but let?s confine our discussion to the footrest mounts! They have brazed in some rearset mountings which I have since removed. I am going to replicate the original tubes, with the aid of a pipe bender and an Oxy torch, but I don?t know the original diameter of the tube.

Can any kind member with a set of callipers please measure the tube diameter please?

Sorry to confuse, the picture of the frame is on it?s end!

glass is half empty. To the engineer, the glass is twice as big
as it needs to be.

My caliper read 0.890", so I reckon 7/8" tube.

Before doing any alterations on the frame perhaps one of the more knowledgeable forum members could confirm the material ..Im not sure if the frame may be produced from Reynolds 531 ?

I would be interested to learn the best method for welding /brazing if this is so ?

I'd mig weld the foot rest tubes back myself.

TIG weld would be best in my opinion but I have not got a TIG welder!
